About us

Serving God in the Bryndwr community since the mid 1940s

We are a group of Bible-believing Christians from a variety of different backgrounds, who enjoy meeting together to worship God, to learn from the Bible, to love and encourage one another, and to share the Good News of Jesus with our family, friends, and community.

Our church in Bryndwr began as a small group of people meeting in the local school in the mid-1940s. As the number of people attending Sunday School, Sunday services, and Boys & Girls Rallies grew, they built and moved into the current church building in 1959. Our purpose now is the same as it was then - to love God, to love others, and to make disciples.

Our Team

Our church works as a team, with many people involved in many different areas of church life. We believe that God has given us all gifts to build the body of Christ so we encourage everyone to serve and be involved. We are led by a group of elders who serve as leaders and pastors.

Would you like to be involved at Bryndwr Chapel?

What we believe and teach

The Bible

The Bible is the perfect word of God, given to us.

The Bible presents God as a three-person eternal being.

The Bible teaches that Jesus is God, and was also fully human, apart from being sinless.

The Bible teaches that Satan is real, and about his evil nature, personality, power, and his final doom.

Salvation

Humans are naturally dead in their sinful nature. Jesus Christ died as a sacrifice for our sins, and now lives forever in heaven, where He advocates for His people.

People who receive salvation by being born again through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ become part of His Church, which is also known as His Body.

No-one can enter the kingdom of God without being born again.

Grace is the basis of salvation from sin and its consequences.

The Church

The local church is a group of believers that is directly responsible to the Lord Jesus as its Head.

God’s people should work to build up the local church as part of the Body of Christ, and to equip members for service.

Believers in Christ should be baptised. Baptism by immersion in water is a public expression of an intent to follow the Lord Jesus Christ, and to walk in the new life He has given.

We regularly observe the Lord’s Supper or Communion.

Jesus Christ

Christ is Lord as well as Saviour.

Christ will return as he promised.

Church Network

We are part of Christian Community Churches of New Zealand. CCCNZ is a movement of churches, and the regional campsites and ministries that support them, working together to point people to Jesus, through the gospel, from the Scriptures.
